Where can you use asphalts?
The main use of asphalts and macadams is in the constructions of roads, from motorways to private access roads, but other significant uses are in vehicle parking areas, from heavy lorry parks to private driveways. If a parking area is used by heavier vehicles than it was designed for, damage to the construction is likely to occur. It is therefore essential to ensure that the design is adequate for the potential use.
Long-lasting surfacing
The bitumen bound surface is usually laid in two or three layers which will depend upon its intended use. The surface course can be either a standard macadam manufactured in accordance with the requirements of BS 4987 or a penetration grade bitumen that has been modified by the addition of a latex or polymer to improve the material’s resistance to softening.
